At IFA 2025 in Berlin, sports technology company Acemate introduced the Acemate Tennis Robot, described as the world’s first AI-powered tennis robot capable of delivering authentic rally play. Designed for players at all levels, from beginners to professionals, the device aims to redefine tennis training by offering a lifelike partner experience and integrated AI coaching features.
The Acemate Tennis Robot distinguishes itself from traditional ball machines through its ability to simulate real match rallies. Using dual 4K binocular cameras and advanced AI algorithms, it achieves centimeter-level tracking accuracy with a reaction time of 0.15 seconds. This allows the robot to replicate the speed, spin, and tactics of human opponents. Mobility is enhanced by four Mecanum wheels, enabling 360-degree movement at speeds up to 5 meters per second. A patent-pending catch net softens impact, while a high-torque motor delivers shots up to 70 mph (113 km/h), with adjustable topspin, backspin, flat shots, slices, and lobs.
In addition to rally play, Acemate functions as an AI tennis coach. The integrated cameras capture detailed shot data, including speed, spin rate, net clearance, and placement. The system processes this information in real time to provide immediate feedback during training sessions. Through the Acemate mobile app for iOS and Android, players can access visual heat maps, shot distribution charts, and comprehensive match statistics. Integration with Apple Watch adds biometric tracking, while in-app video replay allows instant technique review. The robot also generates personalized training recommendations, ranging from short drills to long-term development plans.
Acemate supports various training modes, including targeted serves, multi-point drills, and randomized simulations to mimic real-match pressure. With 20 programmable target zones, the robot can reproduce a wide range of shots, such as baseline drives, angled volleys, or high lobs. Its 80-ball hopper reduces interruptions, while a 6,700 mAh battery offers up to three hours of play, with quick-swap capability for extended use.
The device is compatible with all court surfaces, including clay, hard, and grass courts. Its portable, compact design and app-controlled mobility make it convenient for transport and setup. This flexibility ensures suitability for solo practice, structured coaching, or recreational play.
The Acemate Tennis Robot is available for pre-order, starting at USD 2,499 (CAD 3,499 / GBP 2,599 / EUR 2,599 / AUD 3,999), with sales planned in North America, Europe, the United Kingdom, and Australia. In addition to tennis, Acemate is also offering a pickleball version, catering to diverse player needs.
