Taking this portable projector on the road was easier than I expected

I’ve reviewed Yaber projectors like the portable T2 and cinematic K3 over the last year and was impressed by their quality and value. That’s why I jumped at the chance to try the company’s latest T1 Pro portable projector, which packs excellent features considering its compact size and affordable price tag.

The T1 Pro is designed to go anywhere with a lightweight, foldable design that’s easy to set up in seconds. Out of the box, it resembles a cylinder with a handy carry handle, and a single-button press releases the projector from its integrated stand. After that, I just need to plug in the supplied power cord, and it’s ready to go. The process couldn’t be more straightforward and reminded me of the popular Dangbei Freedo. I spent a few days watching movies and playing games on the T1 Pro, and here’s what I think about it.

Innovative design and features

At 4.17 x 4.57 x 8.95 inches and 3.27 lbs, the T1 is compact enough to fit in most bags and is ideal for business people and other on-the-go users who are looking for a portable solution. There’s no chance of the lens or hinge getting damaged because everything locks in place and can’t move until you need it. When unlocked, the projector offers 180 degrees of adjustability on the gimbal stand, so you can find the perfect angle in no time.

This projector uses LED technology and offers 1080p native resolution and screen sizes between 40 and 120 inches. The 220 ANSI lumens of brightness gets the job done in the dark, but won’t be ideal for daytime use. Sound is courtesy of an 8W speaker integrated into the base. It combines with a port to provide great sound for its size, as well as adding some weight to the projector for better stability.

Setting up the T1 Pro is incredibly easy, requiring only my Wi-Fi password and Netflix login details. After that, I was all set for streaming, and I could also use cast content from my phone. Yaber provides some standard ports, including USB-A to connect memory sticks and external hard drives, HDMI ARC for laptops and consoles, and 3.5 mm audio for external speakers.

I tried connecting my laptop and PS4, and both functioned flawlessly. I also connected my external drive, and the T1 had no issues playing movies and music in various formats.

Everything runs on a Linux-based OS, which is smooth with no lag. It comes with some built-in apps, like Netflix and YouTube, and I can download more with MyApp. The remote control is pretty simple and has shortcuts to YouTube, Netflix, and Prime Video for one-touch access.

What I liked about the Yaber T1 Pro projector

Easy setup and excellent visuals

Older projectors were finicky and took ages to set up manually. It’s a cinch with the user-friendly T1 Pro, which includes features like auto-focus, auto-keystone correction, intelligent obstacle avoidance, and intelligent screen alignment.

These tools combine to make setting up the projector a breeze. After focusing the projector on my wall, it did everything automatically, and I could enjoy my content without wasting time manually adjusting settings to get it right.

I was impressed with the T1 Pro’s visuals, especially considering its compact size and budget-friendly price. The imagery in animated movies like Super Mario Bros and KPop Demon Hunters popped, with no motion blur or discoloration. Godzilla Minus One looked terrific on the massive display and perfectly captured the titular monster’s intricate details. Watching Heat’s famous downtown shootout on the big screen was a treat, and I was surprised that the speaker did justice to the gunshots and car crashes. I also had no issues viewing the movie’s darker night scenes, which were faithfully reproduced without any contrast issues.

Gaming was just as good with titles like Far Cry New Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, which feature sprawling landscapes inhabited by various creatures and enemies. I had an epic experience playing them on the T1 Pro, thanks to the sheer projector scale that brought the forest and jungles to life in vivid clarity.

I like that the T1 Pro feels like a premium product with modern styling and solid build quality. Every part of its design is built around functionality and oozes quality. I’ve become a fan of Yaber’s signature cream color, which I think helps set the brand apart from its rivals.

The T1 has a couple of extras which I haven’t seen on any of the other projectors I’ve tested. It includes a cleaning kit consisting of a microfiber cloth, a pair of cotton swabs, and a screwdriver to remove accumulated grime and lint from the dust cover. It also has a built-in ambient mood light with adjustable brightness and multiple color modes to choose from. I probably won’t use these much, but I still think they are a nice touch to make the T1 Pro stand out.

What I didn’t like about the Yaber T1 Pro projector

Cordless capability would be nice

I feel the T1 Pro’s use is limited due to its average 220 lumens of brightness. It’s impressive in the dark, but suffers during the day when ambient light offsets its performance.

I’d have liked a built-in battery, which makes a difference when on-the-go. I think the T1’s outdoor capabilities are stifled by its need for a dedicated power connection, which might not be available at some nature reserves or picnic spots. However, both issues are somewhat mitigated by the projector’s inexpensive price tag and won’t be deal-breakers for many buyers.

Should you buy the Yaber T1 Pro?

The price is fantastic

The T1 Pro is packed with features, and it’s hard to beat its outstanding value. For well under $200, you get a stylish and sturdy portable projector that can go anywhere with you. I can’t overstate how easy the setup is compared to similarly priced alternatives, and it’s worth its price just for the convenience of not having to do it manually. Movie and gaming performance was up to scratch, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the T1 Pro to anyone looking for an affordable portable projector.
